Karen Kelly (Alexandria, VA)

Karen & her husband Sean lost their first child in February 2013 when they terminated for medical reasons at 20 weeks and lost their second due to miscarriage at 12 weeks in June 2015. The couple welcomed a healthy, beautiful baby boy in August 2016. After another miscarriage in July 2017, their second healthy and equally beautiful baby boy joined them in July 2018. Karen is an avid sports fan and enjoys traveling, baking, and 90s alternative music. She lives in Alexandria, VA with her husband, sons, and 2 cats Smokey and Plinko.
Amanda Lucas (Canada)

Amanda suffered 5 pregnancy losses before becoming pregnant with her daughter. Her losses were at 6, 15, 10, 9, and 4 weeks.
Kate Ells (Laverock, PA)

Kate has experienced two pregnancy losses. Her first loss was a blighted ovum. She had no symptoms and didn’t find out she had miscarried until her first visit with the doctor at 9 weeks. Her second loss was at 5 weeks. Kate believes writing about her losses is a helpful way to heal and also a good way to help others. She currently resides in Laverock, PA with her husband Zach.

Meredith is a 31 year old loss mom living in Rhode Island with her wife and their adorable dog Teddy. After an extended bout with infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss she is hoping to have their first living child through IVF. For fun she works (a lot) at a job she loves, talks politics pretty much non-stop, and is a newfound podcast enthusiast.

Paul works as a Business/Operations Manager by day, and write jokes and does a little improv at night. He lives in Maryland with his wife Sara and “Three” teen-year-old daughter Jackie. Since Jackie, they’ve experienced 3 losses. His main goal for blogging at Through The Heart is to continue to grow with their losses and help others do the same.
Deb Flaherty-Kizer (Guilderland, NY)

Deborah experienced the loss of her grandson, Liam, in January of 2019. She is the mother of two adopted children and the grandmother of one. Deborah lives with her husband, Keith, and dog, Kovu. Now that she is retired Deborah volunteers with several heart-health focused and local community organizations. She is the author of the book “A Journey of the Heart: Learning to Thrive, Not Just Survive, With Congenital Heart Disease.
Cryssie Addis (Texas)

Cryssie and her husband eloped to New York City on a cold winter day in February of 2015. They experienced their first pregnancy loss in January of 2016. Cryssie has since devoted her life to helping women heal from pregnancy loss and experiencing the true freedom and love from Jehovah.

Angela lives with her husband, Richard, and their cat, Muscle Man. They lost their first child in August of 2018 at 9 weeks. They lost their second in April of 2019 at 8 weeks. Angela is a social worker by trade and hopes to be an author one day. She enjoys reading, exercising, puzzles, and trying new restaurants. As a contributing blogger, she will be exploring the relationship between miscarriage and mental illness (OCD), eating disorder recovery, evangelical Christianity, and more.
